9. Dust: An Elysian Tail
Looking at Dust: An Elysian Tail, it looks like a fun anime based metroidvania game. And that’s true; Dust is an action-packed, fun, explorable Metroid like game. In combat you have regular and heavy attacks respectively mapped to the X and Y buttons, but as you go along you gain more abilities and moves that make the already interesting combat system even better.
Dust was by far the best Summer of Arcade game to come out and one of the better arcade games I’ve ever played. More than anything though, Dust is drop dead gorgeous. The world is great to look at, and the animations especially are absolutely astounding. I was floored by how fluid everything looked, and Dust: An Elysian Tail is an absolutely drop dead beautiful game. Dust is fun, intuitive to control, beautiful, and quite lengthy as it clocks in around 10 -12 hours with a new game plus. All of these factors are just heightened however, when you consider that the game was made by just one man.
