It’s a great time to be a fan of Indie Games – we’re got a huge number of developers looking to release the next runaway smash hit and have platforms upon platforms available to distribute their games and highlight their work with little or no hassle, we have Steam Greenlight, The Indie Bundles (Royal, Humble, Gala etc) and now we have another platform that highlights great Indie games – IndieGameStand
The basic premise behind the IndieGameStand is to sell one indie game at a time, for four days and allow people to pay what they want. Sounds simple, right? Well, it is!
Basically, you pay what you want for the current indie game (if you pay less than a dollar you don’t get any Steam/Desura keys – as per normal Bundle rules) however if you accidentally miss the sale you’ve been waiting for then you have the opportunity to pick up your own Custom Bundle – where you pay a certain amount for the previously highlighted indie game, the current game and the next game to be highlighted on the IndieGameStand.
We at The IndieGarden are very excited by this, as the IndieGamesStand ethos sounds very similar to our own:
“to put a spotlight on those indie titles which provide fantastic experiences, but may have been passed over by the mainstream gaming public, portals, websites, or whatever. This site is about supporting all of the fantastic and worthwhile indie developers out there. Every developer out there deserves a moment to shine.”
The IndieGamesStand launches on the 26th September, and until then is testing itself by offering the platformer Chester for free when you create an account.
