Top 7 Iconic Weapons in Gaming Series

In video games it’s easy to forget that the weapon is just as memorable as the character, so I present to you the most iconic weapons from our favourite series…

#7. Assassin’s Creed – Hidden Blade

The weapon of choice for the Assassin Order. The hidden blade is so hidden, that the user can kill someone in broad daylight, surrounded by hundreds of witnesses and simply walk away unhindered.

Whoever wrote this blog should be fired. The most iconic weapon that every gamer knows is the ‘Gravity Gun’ from HL2 not the bloody crowbar… Who the fuck remembers the crowbar over the thing that shoots anything, even people at later levels.

What about the ‘True Dragon Sword’ from Ninja Gaiden? Most people haven’t even seen the Doom movie or even know what the BFG is. Let alone remember it.

The ‘Energy Sword’ from Halo, or well any of the weapons from are other viable candidates. Though I’m not a fan of the genre.

Wow pretty passionate over a top 10 list..
When I see a crowbar, I think HalfLife, and I know I’m not the only one. The Gravity Gun is all over lists like these I’m going for something different.
Plus I’m pretty sure more people have played Doom over Ninja Gaiden.
That being said you got me on the Energy Sword..

What critbot said, that said: Wow you do not know much about classic and might I add very famous games do you(I do not mean any offense by that comment I was just stating what seems to be the situation and if its not then I apologize :P)? Also BFG rapes the energy swords face lol (That coming from a halo die hard should mean something, but I do have to say that i did play doom well before halo for obvious reasons lol).

Actually the crowbar is the half life series iconic weapon because believe it or not …….Half life was famous long before its sequel arrived and the crowbar is as much as part of freemans character as the suit.

As for doom, no one has seen the movie? yes lets ignore dooms legendary status in the gaming world and assume people will only know the weapon from the movie instead.

I also think clouds sword from final fantasy 7 is quite universally known even from people who are not big fans of the games.

Lets be honest, Halo’s Energy sword should have been there before BFG or that bazooka….

This list is a joke. Crowbar? WORMS BAZOOKA?
There are lots of more ‘iconic’ weapons. Fibre Wire (Hitman Series), AWP (Counterstrike), Bananas (or pretty much any Mario Kart pickup), Railguns (Quake),some of CnC arsenal (Mammoth, Obelisk of Light, Tanya, shit even the fences) Frostmourne and Ashbringer (Warcraft), Lightsabers, Portal Gun and Indiana Jones’ whip, just to tell a few. I agree with the others, but not in that order and picking only 7 is like picking one of them.

I would list the energy sword, lancer, spartan laser, big fucking gun, fuel rod gun, soul edge and soul calibur.

Sure, the weapons in this list are good, but are they all “iconic”? No, not really. At least the BFG is here, as it should be.

I think the crowbar is the better choice to represent Half-Life, especially for anyone who played the first game when it came out; not many melee weapons end up in shooters, fewer still that remain useful throughout. Cloud’s Buster Sword should be on this list. The chainsaw from Doom could also be in, unless we’re limiting things to one per game/franchise (so, that would mean no gravity gun). Where is Simon Belmont’s whip? Hell, where’s the fire flower?

How about Isaac’s plasma cutter? You can easily go through the games without ever using another weapon, which you can’t easily say about many other games, unless you’re of the type to never change so you can say you beat the game with the first weapon you had.

It might be a stretch, but Samus’ screw attack should also be considered.
