You can also try out the new multiplayer mode – Yes that’s right, I said multiplayer! – It’s what the fans were asking for ever since Trials HD was released and Red Lynx listened. Hurrah!
Multiplayer comes in 2 ways, Supercross and Trials. Supercross is side by side racing with 3 other racers over several tracks, place first, second or third to score points to win the heats and the match. Trials is much the same as the single player mode only you’ll be racing the “ghosts” of the other racers in your match, again you’ll score points by finishing in the top 3, and the highest scorer wins. Each time you finish the race you’ll earn money, the higher you place the more money you’ll get.
However, as good as the multiplayer is (and it is brilliant), the best of this game comes from the leaderboards. After all, everyone wants to be top of the leaderboards, even if it is only for a few seconds. That is what will keep you coming back to Trials Evolution for months to come.
There really is nothing bad I can say about this game. Trials Evolution is one of the most addictive and fun games I have ever had the pleasure of playing.
It’s the only game I have ever played that makes me throw my controller against the wall in a fit of frustration and then immediately regret it as it means I can no longer play.
So does Red Lynx’s sequel, Trials Evolution stand up to the original? Well in a word, yes. Not only does it stand up, it far surpasses the original in every way.
However, this game does come does with a warning – It will ruin friendships as you try desperately to beat your friends. It WILL lead to arguments and probably you saying to your friend of many years “You must be cheating!” followed by “I hate you and never want to speak to you again!”….you have been warned.
