This comes as no surprise since just about a week ago EA literally told us they would be announcing Crysis 3 on the 16th. But anyways, here it is.
Crysis 3 sees the return of Prophet to a terra-formed New York. The game opens in 2047 with Prophet seeking revenge. The Cell Corporation has encased all of New York in a so called “Nanodome”.
This has changed the city in significant ways. It now has “seven distinct and treacherous environments” known as the “Seven Wonders”. The new Nanodome quarantines seem to be an effort on Cells part for nothing else than world domination.
The alien Ceph are still around too, and their disdain of humanity hasn’t lessened at all. This seems to point to the fact that there is more than one faction Prophet will have to contend with.
In the press release rainforest and swampland environments are mentioned as well as a new weapon for Prophet to play with: a composite bow.
The official announcement also marks the start of Crysis 3’s pre-order campaign that EA is running. For those who pre-order now, they will instantly be upgraded to the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition($59.99). This edition will offer some boosts on the multiplayer side, which means that multiplayer is also confirmed to be in the game.
The Hunter Edition boost starts with enough XP to kick off your multiplayer play at level 5, early access to the composite bow “and its attachments,” the Hunter Nanosuit module “which adds additional power and functionality to the super-suit,” a special skin for the bow, and three dog tags.
There is also three retailer specific pre-order bonuses that you can see below. At this point it is unknown which package goes with which retailer.
Stalker Pack – Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: for players who like to stalk their prey from the shadows the Stalker Pack provides early multiplayer access to the deadly semi-auto Jackal shotgun. This powerful, close-range shotgun comes with a unique silencer attachment, custom weapon skin and two exclusive themed in-game dog tags.
Overkill Pack – Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: the Overkill Pack features early multiplayer access to the Typhoon assault weapon and skin. Spewing 500 rounds a second, the Typhoon gives players the ability to go guns blazing to take back the Liberty Dome. Also included are two exclusive Overkill themed in-game dog tags.
Predator Pack – Includes the base game, all the Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: the Predator Pack delivers early multiplayer access to the Feline submachine gun and exclusive camo.
