During Pax East Borderlands 2 developer, Gearbox Software, revealed some of the information on an “idea” that they have – “what if we could add a new playable class to Borderlands 2 after we’ve completed the development of the game? And the name we’re giving to that idea is the Mechromancer.”

According to the Gearbox blog “The Mechromancer will be an all-new playable character that we plan to develop after work on Borderlands 2 is finished and the game is in certification.”

The character will be added as DLC that Borderlands 2 owners can purchase when released. People who pre-order will be part of the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club and will not have to purchase this DLC in order to have access to the class. Upon release of the new class, which is expected to be between 60 and 90 days of release, there is set to be a “compatibility update so that people who have the Mechromancer can play with those who don’t.”

So what do you think? Is it fair for people who pre-order to gain siginificant bonuses including gaining access to premium content over those who wait for release? Feel free to comment below with your thoughts on not only this matter but your thoughts on DLC in general too.
