Namco Bandai recently announced that the highly anticipated SOULCALIBUR V has gone gold, or released to the manufacturer for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game is jam-packed with new features, including improved character customization, Brave Edge and Critical Edge systems, as well as previously announced Ezio Auditore de Firenze from Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise. It is set 17 years after SOULCALIBUR IV, and will have both new and returning characters fighting for good or evil. The story follows Patroklos, son of Sophitia Alexandra, as his family’s fate becomes involved with the Soul swords.
“Fighting game fans have been itching to get their hands on SOULCALIBUR V to begin mastering classic characters and new heroes alike,” said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing, NAMCO BANDAI Games America. “We are excited to see what top players and newcomers discover with the new Brave Edge and Critical Edge systems which are bound to create dynamic and exhilarating battles.”
In addition to the standard edition, a collector’s edition of SC V will be available that includes a music CD, making of video content, hardcover art book, and the Dark Knight and White Knight DLC armor sets for the Character Creation Mode. It also comes packed in a faux leather-bound book replica of the one featured in the game. Pre-ordering from select retailers will vary, as GameStop customers will get a free Ivy Valentine Bobble Budd figure, Best Buy customers will receive a download code to play as Dampierre, and Walmart and Future Shop customers will get a limited edition laser art-cell.
SOULCALIBUR V will be released on January 31, 2012. For more info on the game, visit http://www.soulcalibur.com.
