4) It’s Absolutely Beautiful
Yeah, I know this reason might not be the best one, but Skyrim is a truly beautiful game. When you go back and look at Oblivion after the years it has been out, it still looks great. Skyrim takes everything a step further. The environments and vistas you are treated to look absolutely stunning, even in this day and age of great graphical power. All you have to do to see the beauty of Skyrim is take a look at any screenshot; you can also tell that the environments of the game have great variation. The one area where Bethesda has always fallen short on has been improved too, facial animations. In both Oblivion and Fallout the characters’ facial animations looked a bit stiff, but Skyrim has clearly improved on this. It’s one piece of criticism that Bethesda has taken to heart.
Another impressive feat is the detail in each item and piece of equipment you get, as well as the world map. When you’re inspecting equipment in your menu, you can take a close up look at each piece, rotate it, zoom in, and take a look at the item from whichever direction you want to. The world map is especially stunning. It’s been intricately detailed, and is reminiscent of the Fable III world map. This makes navigation much easier than looking at a flat world map and lets you quickly inspect the type of terrain and areas that you’re going to. Just take a look at this trailer to see how great Skyrim looks.
