Tecmo Koei announced the official existence of Dead or Alive 5 recently at the Tokyo Game Show. The video presented showed a pre-alpha version of the game running.
The trailer shows off the series trademark fighting action. Pitting Ryu Hayabusa (of Ninja Gaiden fame) and Hayate against each other on a dark rooftop, with massive construction cranes swinging dangerously in the background. It appears that the environment will have more of a direct involvement in fights this time around. With all of the great comebacks that fighting games have had recently, I’m excited to see if Dead or Alive can do the same thing.
The newest entry in the series is set to release sometime in 2012, and it will be the first numbered Dead or Alive game since Tomonobu Itagaki the head of Team Ninja left.
