It was discovered earlier today by a LinkedIn profile of one Althea Suarez Gata, that Alan Wake 2 may be in production. Althea is a pre-visualization artist credited with working on the Deliver Hope trailer for Halo Reach. Her profile listed that she had contributed to cinematics for Alan Wake 2. After the discovery was made her CV(resume) was hastily edited within hours.
Head of Remedy games Oskari Hakkinen had spoken to Eurogamer last year, telling them there really is no reason a sequel to Alan Wake should not be made. Alan Wakes relatively poor sales may beg to differ with that, but I personally would not mind seeing a sequel to a game I feel is one of the best of this generation. Hakkinen has said,”I don’t see any reason why we wouldn’t continue with Microsoft with a full-blown sequel for Alan Wake. We definitely want to do it. We have great ideas for it.”
With the final game in the Gears of War trilogy releasing this year, Microsoft is running low on their stable of exclusives which have been generally fantastic over the years. Alan Wake 2 may be just the thing Microsoft needs, if it really is in development we can probably expect to see it announced at this year’s E3.
