Those of you, like me, eagerly awaiting the finish to Commander Shepards saga will have to wait a few more months to do it.

A new post on the Bioware forums today, by the companies community coordinator Chris Priestly has brought the revelation that Mass Effect 3 has been delayed until the first few months of 2012. Priestly started a new thread in the forums called, “2 new screenshots and new release date information.” His initial post detailed the information that there were 2 new screenshots added to the Mass Effect 2 gallery as well as the information about the delay.

The Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series Casey Hudson later released a statement, ” Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.”

While the news that one of the most eagerly awaited games of this year, and maybe this generation, has been delayed is disappointing. It is good to hear that the reason is so the team can get it in as tip-top shape as they can. I’m more than willing to wait a couple extra months to get an extra layer of polish on the game.

Bioware has said that more information on the release date will be revealed as the time draws closer.
