When Disney took over the Star Wars franchise, gamers crossed their fingers we would get some big new Star Wars games. While we’re still waiting for Star Wars: Battlefront, the fine folks from the House of Mouse and Gigataur have dropped a new mobile game called Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions.

As the name implies, Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions is based on the super popular TV show of the same name. You play a character named Ezra Bridger on a quest to save the citizens of Lothal and restore “Hope” to those who need it. We mean that literally, as Hope is one of the game’s odd mechanics.

Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions is a bit of an oddball as it’s part-platformer and part something else. There are challenges, boss battles, and vehicles you can drive to go along with a vast array of Star Wars characters. There’s also a Rebel Haven, which acts as a base of sorts that you have to build up and decorate. Throw in boosts, collectibles, and a wad of IAP’s and you’ve just been introduced to Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions.

In terms of content, Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions has around 34 levels to go along with over 50 challenges. From my brief time with the game, I can tell you there are a lot of characters to interact with as well. I’m not sure of how many vehicles you get to drive or of the boss battles, but the Imperial AT-MP and AT-DP were both mentioned. That said, you’re only going to get 4 levels for free before it’s time to pay the piper.

Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions is free to download, but you’ll need to pay $4.99 for the Master Pack to get the other 31 levels. That purchase also includes two playable characters in Jedi Kanan and explosive Sabine. There are also two cheaper packs with 15 levels, a boss, and a character for $2.99. If you want to give it a spin, you can snag Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions for Android, iOS or Windows devices.
