We have covered numerous zombie games over the years at Slimgamer, and they come in many different shapes and forms. From runners to shooters and puzzle games; there is a little something for everyone. You can now add “trap game” to that list thanks to a slick new zombie game called Because Zombies…
Because Zombies drops you in the middle of a zombie infested city where the goal is to survive each level while trying to locate your daughter. It’s similar to games like Trap Hunter where you use traps instead of weapons to take out for foes, but also has elements from TD games. The traps are essentially your towers, and you are the base that needs protected at all costs. Thankfully, Because Zombies gives you plenty of awesome ways to protect yourself.
Each level has a different layout, and while you can sometimes use your surroundings to your advantage, for the most part it’s just you, the zombies, and some traps. You have a set amount of cash to use on said traps, and you will earn some more every time a zombie bites the dust. Needless to say, you stay busy when things kick off between laying down traps and picking up cash.
By the numbers, Because Zombies has 43 levels to make your way through, and there are over 25 different types of traps. Some are “upgraded” models of previously unlocked traps, but there is plenty of content. The Attack Dogs and Poison Gas Barrels are a few of my personal favorites. All those options allow you to take on levels in entirely new ways as well, so there is a lot of replay value when you consider the 3-star level setup.
In addition to the traps and the zombie filled levels, Because Zombies also throws survivors into the mix. As you progress through the game, you will meet other folks trying to make their way through the apocalyptic landscape. The survivors can lend you a hand with their unique abilities, but they take up a trap slot, so you’ll have to decide whether a survivors abilities are better than a freezing gas cylinder or spikes.
Because Zombies is definitely a different take on the zombie genre, and it’s quite a bit of fun if you dig strategery over boatloads of bullets. There’s a lot of content to play through and it certainly doesn’t hurt that its easy on the eyes either. Great job by DoubleSmoked Software on this one, and we look forward to seeing what they bring to the table next. If you’re ready to start taking out the undead, you can head on over to Google Play and pick up Because Zombies for $0.99.
