What on Earth is What on Earth? As it turns out, it’s a side scrolling racing game that melds together community created levels and great physics based racing. (like Trials HD) Whilst the game is currently in beta, there is a lot to look at already, and I definitely think this game could be a big success once it has been released.

Before I try to explain what this game is all about, I think it’d be better for you to view the .gif below of the game in action. As you can see, the game mechanics follow a similar concept from other games, such as Trials HD or Hill Climb Racing. The developers have opted for a 3D cartoon graphics style, and I honestly think the end results look a lot better than an iOS game like this that would be developed to look as realistic as possible. There is also one huge feature of What on Earth that makes it stand out from it’s competitors.

I am of course talking about the level creator – players can create their own levels, and challenge their friends to race on it. If you take up a friend’s challenge, you will be racing against their ghost. This kind of competitive, social based nature should help What on Earth to stay interesting, and I’m really interested to see how far players will go when creating levels. So far, the controls for creating levels seems pretty straight forward, although I haven’t had the chance to play it myself yet so I can’t 100% confirm that.
