If you grew up in the 80s, you probably watched classic animated flicks like The Last Unicorn or films with a similar style of animation. The Banner Saga brings those memories back to life in the form of a strategic RPG game, and after a long wait the game has finally landed on Google Play.

Back in July, we talked about how The Banner Saga was coming to tablets in the fall, and while it landed on iOS last month, the Android release was a bit late. Stoic Studios remedied that today by bringing the epic RPG to Android, and they’ve pleased countless gamers around the globe in doing so.

The Banner Saga is a story driven game set in a mythical Norse world. You could arguably say that the plot plays a bit like Game of Thrones – it isn’t a happy tale and all your decisions matter. The combat is turn-based, and you will need all your strategery at the ready. The mechanics aren’t perfect, but the beauty of the game and outstanding soundtrack more than make up for it.

If there was one game I had to recommend for folks to play on a tablet, it would be The Banner Saga. I got to play a bit of this one on an iPad and was really blown away by the game. Needless to say, if you’ve got the new Nexus 9, you can thank us later. It’s going to set you back $9.99, but it’s worth every penny and you can pick it up from the Play Store at the link below.
