If you’ve been keeping an eye on the mobile scene recently, you will have noticed that Disney has released a number of new Star Wars titles, each of which seem to focus on mobile game genre that has managed to prove to be popular over the last couple of years. For example, Star Wars Force Collection, a themed trading card game, has been out for a while, and just recently Disney also released Star Wars: Commander, a Clash of Clans styled game.
And now, Disney has announced another title – Star Wars Galactic Defense, and as the name suggests, it will be a tower defense styled game within the Star Wars universe.
In Star Wars Galactic Defense, players will be able to place down different towers to try and eliminate any incoming forces. Whilst the game doesn’t have as much of a story as Star Wars Commander, it’s still pretty cool to be able to place down turrets or popular characters like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo to destroy incoming storm troopers and other troops and units from the Galactic Empire.
There is also a set of different planets to play on, and a lot of great unlockables to work towards along the way. I must admit, Star Wars Galactic Defense has definitely been well developed, so it will be interesting to see how it pales in comparison to the dozens of other popular tower defense games out there.
So far, a release date has not been revealed, but I can’t imagine it being too long before the game is released, considering how polished it is looking in the latest developer diary. We will let you know when we have more details about the release of the game in the near future – in the meantime, you can check out gameplay of Star Wars Galactic Defense below.
