If you grew up in the 80s, there’s a good chance you picked up a MAD magazine at some point. Needless to say, you know what’s up with Spy vs Spy. There’s been a mobile game out for ages on iOS, and yesterday Chillingo finally brought it over to Android.Screenshot_2014-06-24-23-24-51

Spy vs Spy is a port of the ancient game of the same name that was somewhat popular back in the day. Some liked it, others not so much. The mobile version has been revamped for modern times, but the classic mode is still front & center if you want to give it a go.

In either mode, you have to send your Spy through series of rooms looking for items to put in a briefcase. One you get them all, the stage is clear, but things are complicated due to the fact that another Spy is trying to pull off the same thing.  If you meet up, you have a quick dual and you can leave traps for them to stumble into.Screenshot_2014-06-24-23-48-38

As an Alfred E. Neuman enthusiast, I got a little excited when I saw Spy vs Spy show up in the Play Store, and it took all of 5 seconds for me to click that Buy button. Unfortunately, the controls are clunky and it’s a paid game with some IAP’s thrown in for good measure. Thanks Chillingo.

If you’re a diehard Spy vs Spy fan, it’s worth a buck for the nostalgia alone, otherwise you’ll probably want to avoid this one.
