It’s safe to say that Clash of Clans is a pretty popular game, and fans of the title have been clamoring to get their hands on the next title from the company. They’ve already answered the call on iOS, and yesterday they finally brought Boom Beach to Android in a soft launch.
Boom Beach is the follow-up to Clash of Clans, and while it takes place in a different setting, it’s essentially a tweaked version of CoC. That’s not a bad thing if you dug the original, and a lot of folks did in case you didn’t notice the catchy commercials last year.
This time around you’ll be fighting against the evil Blackguard where you’ll have to explore islands while building up your base and demolishing others. Battle Beach is geared to be a little easier to get into than its predecessor as well from what I’ve been told, but it’s still a freemium experience so you’ll have to deal with timers, IAP’s and the like.
I wasn’t a huge Clash of Clans fan, but I have been looking forward to getting my hands on Boom Beach after giving it a brief run on a pals iPhone last month. It’s a solid game if you dig the base building vibe, and you’ll definitely want to give it a go if you liked CoC. If you detest freemium games, proceed with caution as always.
At the moment, Boom Beach is in “soft launch” mode in a handful of countries and there’s been no word on when it will get a global launch. It was 5-6 months on iOS, but shouldn’t be as long on Android. If you’re hankering to get busy with Boom Beach, hit the link and cross your fingers to see if it’s available in your region.
