Earlier this week, Godus, the brand new God Game by Peter Molyneux’s new development studio soft launched onto the New Zealand app store, making it’s debut onto mobile devices. We’ve previously seen 22can’s odd but aptly named ‘Curiosity’ project on the smartphone platform, but Godus fits into a genre that Peter Molyneux is most comfortable with, and I’m excited to see it move over to iOS and Android.

To celebrate Godus’ debut to the app store, I thought I’d pick out 10 of the best god game apps currently available for iPhones, iPads and iPods.

Civilization Revolution

Civilization is a well based strategy game that has seen years of success on consoles and the PC, but recently 2K have put more focus onto the mobile platform, and this has lead to the being of Civilization Revolution. For those unfamiliar with the series, in Civilization, you are given control of an entire civilization that progresses slowly through different eras of history. You’ll be able to determine what resources are gathered, what technology is researched, and what faith your civilization attunes itself to, all whilst NPCs or other real players do the same. As you can guess, war usually ensues, and it’s great fun.

Civilization Revolution is admittedly dumbed down compared to it’s PC counterparts, but for a mobile title, it’s certainly not bad, and it easily rivals an other god game apps currently on the market.
