Most top-tier games have companion apps these days as the worlds of consoles and mobiles inch closer together. Konami got in on the action in the wee hours of the morning when they unleashed Metal Gear Solid V: GZ app for Android.metal gear solid V: GZ

The Metal Gear Solid V: GZ app allows players to hook into the world of good old Snake through your favorite mobile device. There are four different modes in the app with iDROID, Mother Base, Cassette Tapes, and Data Portal. iDROID works as a navigational/second-screen system in the game, but requires Wi-Fi to connect. Cassette Tapes lets you listen to some tines and intel tapes found in the game while the Data Portal gives you access to information from the game.

Mother Base is the most interesting part of the Metal Gear Solid V: GZ app by a long shot. You can upgrade your “Mother Base” from here and manage your team… you can also play this mode offline and free of the actual game itself complete with missions and a bit of base building. Definitely not something you see from a lot of companion apps.Screenshot_2014-03-19-12-36-18
