UPDATE 09/02/2014 – 12:41 PM

Looks like he actually did it.  After a quick scan of the App Store and Play Store, Flappy Bird is gone.  Dong Nguyen removed his game just as he said he would.  The original story is as follows:

Dong Nguyen, creator of the wildly successful iOS game Flappy Bird is a creator who is unhappy with his game’s success.  He has spoken on Twitter about how the game’s success has made his life difficult and unhappy, but now he’s planning on removing the game entirely.  Speaking out on Twitter a few minutes ago, Nguyen has stated:

“I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore.”

He followed this up by tweeting:

“It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore.”

22 Hours from the time of the tweet would make the time approximately 12 noon Eastern Standard Time.  Will he follow through and remove the game from the App Store and Play Store?  I guess we’ll know by tomorrow.
