Board games have slowly gone the way of the dinosaur over the years, but classics like Monopoly and Clue are still popular today. If you enjoy a good murder-mystery, you’ll want to check out a new Kickstarter project from Golgom Games by the name of Mansion Lord.
Mansion Lord is being described as a RPG and business sim coupled with a murder mystery game… there’s also building involved. Just try and wrap your head around that for a second. Basically, you get to build a mysterious mansion where that will house shifty characters you’ve invited over for dinner. As it’s a murder mystery game, people die, and you’ll have to hire detectives to find the killers and collect bounties.
The RPG/Sim part comes into play as you’ll have to outfit your super sleuths with top-notch gear and you’ll get to level their skillset up along the way. Mansion Lord offers tactical turn-based combat, rougelike encounters via the basement, and you can even end your detectives out for the occasional date. It’s an interesting concept to say the least.
Mansion Lord kicked off its campaign on November 19, and they are looking to raise $28,000 to bring the game to the masses on the PC and Mac. There are plenty of stretch goals to shoot for as well including expanded story lines/quests, a zombie outbreak mode, and a ghost extermination system. The developer hopes to bring the game to more platforms as well as the iPad, Wii U, and PS Vita are all listed as stretch goals.
Golgam Games has managed to raise around $5,546 at the time of this writing, and there are still 25 days left for them to hit their initial goal. If successful, Mansion Lord should hit the net in August of 2014 barring any setbacks. If you’re interested in finding out more about Mansion Lord you can check out their Kickstarter page, and even if you can’t pledge you can still show your support by voting for the game on Steam Greenlight.
