Telltale Games is well known for the outstanding work they’ve done on The Walking Dead which won countless awards and has a sequel coming up which we talked about a few weeks back. If you dig what they did with the dead, prepare to really get excited as they’ve just announced they’ll be putting their take on another popular franchise…. Game of Thrones.
IGN broke the news yesterday that Telltale Games is developing a game based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice, otherwise known as Game of Thrones. When IGN reached out to Telltale for confirmation, they got the old “no comment” line which is to be expected considering the magnitude of a move like this. Telltale has a history of working with popular properties in the past including Law & Order, Fables, King’s Quest, Back to the Future, Sam & Max, and the Walking Dead of course.
The way Martin’s books play out would be a great fit for the team at Telltale, and with a large cast of characters, there are a number of ways they could go with a Game of Thrones game. Gamers could take a look at things through the eyes of Arya as she takes her journey outside the walls of Winterfell or maybe they’ll give us a glimpse inside the life of the Faceless Men of Braavos or show us why Robin and Lysa or so damned weird. The possibilities are truly endless.
While there are virtually no concrete details about Telltale’s Game of Thrones aside from the “no comment” they put out, we expect to hear something before Season 4 rolls around early next year. They had a lot of success with The Walking Dead, and you can expect more awards and accolades once their version of Game of Thrones is unleashed. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
