People have always been enamored with ancient times, and video games are a great way to play around in the past. An upcoming game by the name of Apotheon will let you do just that, and its shaping up to be a ‘must have’ game that’s going to be on everyone’s wish list.
Apotheon is a 2D platform game set against the backdrop of ancient Greek mythology, and as you can see from the screenshots, the artwork definitely has a Greek vibe. The gameplay consists of a large single player campaign in an open world environment, but will include online multiplayer with team-based modes and deathmatches as well.
The game has popped up at PAX Prime and a few other venues, but for the most part, we’ve only gotten glimpses of what Apotheon will offer in terms of gameplay. was able to go hands on with the game, and has said the combat system is deeper than your typical mouse-driven point and hack game as the level of your mouse ties into where you swing your sword. You’ll also be able to pick up gear from your vanquished foes, craft explosives, and utilize various pieces of armor along the way.apotheon
Alien Trap is the team responsible for Apotheon, and if you’ve played Capsized, you know they can put together an awesome game. While no firm release date has been set, Apotheon is expected to be out for PC through Steam sometime around the end of this year or beginning of next year with Mac, Linux, and possibly a next-gen console version following.
