When someone describes their upcoming game as “Wind Walker meets Dark Souls” you’re going to grab a lot of folks attention – ours included. Ascension Games Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim has been described as that, and as of today they are inching towards being successfully funded on Kickstarter. Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim is an Action/RPG that takes place in an open-world where you’ll take on the role of a kid named Tyrim. He may be young, but he’s the son of a Viking warriors, so the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. We won’t go into the story too much, but it’s interesting as is the game. The world of Cornerstone is laid out similar to Wind Walker as you’ll get a series of connected islands with most areas being accessible from the jump. Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim encourages exploration and its combat system discourages any button mashing which is never a bad thing. Did we mention the crafting system? It has that, quests, bosses, and there are even some puzzles thrown in for good measure. The Kickstarter campaign for Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim kicked off on September 26 and closes this Saturday on October 26th. At the time of this writing, they’ve raised $23,456 of their $30,000 goal so they still need some help to hit the mark. If they can get $40k, gamers will get an expanded soundtrack and Rougelike Mode comes into play if they can raise $50,000. If Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim clicks your clock, you can head on over to their Kickstarter page and pledge your support. If you are on the fence, there’s a demo you can check out that gives you a better idea of what to expect from the game. If successfully funded you can expect to see Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim in December of next year and it will be available for the PC, Mac, and Linux.
