Do you like your survival games to be a little puzzling? If so, we’ve got just the thing for you with a Kickstarter project called Raindrop. It’s an environment driven survival tale with gorgeous environments and you’ll even get to craft your own weapons… from scratch. That get your attention?
Raindrop started out as a concept for a Half-Life 2 total conversion mod around 5 years ago, and due to several setbacks it was put on the back burner while remaining a constant force in its creators minds. Fast-forward to present day and Nihad Nasupovic and Max Ramirez have revived their vision and have come to Kickstarter for a little help We’re sure glad they did as Raindrop is shaping up to be a sick game fans of the survival genre will drool over.
As mentioned, Raindrop will let you craft your own weapons by scavenging items as you progress through the game. Scavenging may let you build a prison-worthy zip pistol, but it serves another purpose as it also allows you to build objects which you’ll need to complete complex puzzles found throughout the world. The game will also feature dynamic weather, advanced AI, vehicles you can drive and customize. Needless to say,  their workshop system has us intrigued and they had us hooked at “surreal, environment driven, survival game”.
raindrop.craftingRaindrop just hit Kickstarter this week with an initial goal of $144,000 to bring ‘Chapter 1’ to PC, Mac, and Linux. They have some interesting stretch goals as well including Co-Op Multiplayer, Open World, and Oculus Rift integration. While the finished product won’t be out until 2015, Raindrop is definitely a game to get excited about, and you can back it or find out more on their Kickstarter page.
