Sarah Norway has put out some great games including a personal favorite of mine by the name of Rebuild. When I was perusing Kickstarter for interesting games, I stumbled across Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville which will the 3rd game in the Rebuild franchise. Ready to try and rebuild society in a zombie infested world?
Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville is a strategy-based sim that puts you to work gathering survivors so you can take back your city one block at a time. It’s not the type of simulation game where you send your party members out to get a job or find a date either… every time you send someone out there’s a good chance they’ll never return because Zombies need food, too.
As you scavenge for supplies and survivors, you’ll have to manage all sorts of things if you want your team to make it. Food is always of the utmost importance, but so is morale, and having guards setup to protect from zombie hordes. Everyone will have a role to play, and it’s up to you what they’ll do although a number of factors go a long way towards them being successful. One of those factors are the NPC Faction Forts which is just one of a dozen things that have us excited about Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville.
You’ll be able to trade, ally, or compete with Faction Forts in the game, and the NPC faction leaders will have their own distinct personalities and storylines. Speaking of stories, there’s going to be a lot of those as Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville uses cool artwork and interactive fiction for events to go along with a Campaign story mode. If you’ve played the previous games, you’ll notice a huge difference in the graphical style and overall interface as well.
Why should you fund Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville? Besides the fact that it’s a kick-ass zombie survival sim that’s not a shooter, it’s a game that has very little risk behind it. It’ll be the 3rd game in the series, and Sarah has a great track record of putting out successful Indies. It’s also a game heavily influenced by the fans which is extremely cool as witnessed by the Rebuild game wiki.
The pledge levels start at a buck for a thank you and go up to $1,500 for a Corporate Sponsorship. The rewards vary from copies of the game and extra starting equipment/bonuses to T-shirts, personalized zombies, and having your companies name (real or fictional) on a ruined building in the game. There are lots of cool goodies to be had and the warm, fuzzy feeling you get from backing Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville is the icing on the cake.
At the time of this writing Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville has raised around $9,000 CAD of their $25,000 goal with 29 days left to go. If they clear the 25k stretch goals will be added included extra content, voice acting, factions, etc… If you’re ready to help the game become a reality (you know you are) just hit up the link below and head on over to Sarah Northway’s Kickstarter Page. If all goes well, Rebuild: Gangs of Deadsville is expected to hit PC, Mac, iOS, and Android in May of 2014.
