Well this is different.  In a move that can only be described as “What?”, Activision has decided to take their Call of Duty behemoth and cross promote it with Eminem’s new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2.  Both products launch on the same day – November 5 – and if you preorder the game you’ll receive a code at time of pickup to download the new album plus a bonus track for only $8.99.  This promotion is only valid if you preorder at Gamestop, because of course Gamestop is in on it too.

There’s a bit of a history with Call of Duty and Eminem.  One of the original trailers for Modern Warfare 2 featured Eminem’s song Till I Collapse and it worked surprisingly well, and just last month Eminem revealed the track Survival from the new album during the multiplayer reveal of Call of Duty: Ghosts.  This is also going to go a step further later this month when Ghosts is featured in the music video for Survival.  For some reason.
