The launch of new consoles looms just around the corner at the end of this year. Both have a set of highly impressive games coming for them, and the Playstation 4 looks to have a strong launch day already set up. Take a look at what’s coming.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
The newest installment in the beloved Assassin’s Creed series has you filling the shoes of Edward Kenway. A pirate and assassin to boot. Black Flag will take you all across the Caribbean, as well as many more locations, as you recruit your own crew and explore the world in the Golden Age of Piracy. If that’s not enough, the series’ refreshing take on multiplayer returns looking better than ever.
Sixty player battles on console, and the ability to change the face of the battlefield by collapsing building and more: that’s what Battlefield 4 offers, all at an incredible 60 frames-per-second. Battlefield 4 had an impressive showing at E3, and the massive battles of the series feel more hectic than ever. A less linear more story focused campaign is promised as well, making Battlefield 4 a must own for any next-gen console buyer.
Call of Duty: Ghosts
It’s not a year in gaming without a new entry from the Call of Duty franchise. Ghosts looks to retain that level of high sheen that the series is known for, launching a brand new entry in the series. Which console will see more Call of Duty players time can only tell but go ahead and check out some gameplay in the meantime.
That’s right; Diablo 3 is coming to Playstation 4. If somehow you haven’t played it already but hope to get in on the hack-and-slashing lootfest action, here it is. With exclusive items from the Uncharted series as well as the indie hit Journey, Diablo 3 will make its way onto PS4 as well as PS3 this fall.
What’s a launch without a racing game? Drive Club hopes to scratch that racing itch while putting some interesting social integration in, as well. In the demo, we’ve seen that a player will race solo but come upon challenges throughout the track. The best of each of the players rivals end up becoming the head-to-head goal for each challenge. Drive Club is certainly a game to watch as we come closer to launch.
Soccer is a game loved throughout the world. By that same token, FIFA is a game loved around the world. Fans should get ready for another FIFA game that will eat your time away. It’s one of the first games to incorporate the new EA Sports Ignite engine as well.
Just Dance 2014
That’s right, you’ll be able to dance to your heart’s content on the new consoles as well. I’m sure this is everybody’s most awaited launch title for Playstation 4. Jokes aside though, Just Dance can be good fun at a party and all.
Killzone: Shadow Fall
One of the first games ever announced for the Playstation 4, Killzone: Shadow Fall is one of the most graphically impressive looking games that’s been shown off for the new systems. Whether that quality transfers over to gameplay, story, and multiplayer remains to be seen. However, Killzone has a pretty good track record at this point.
Knack is an easy game to dismiss, because of how cute and simple it looks its easy to assume it’s just a kid’s game. While that might not be totally untrue, Knack is a hell of a lot of fun to play. It also has the support of having the legendary Mark Cerny as it’s creator, a man in part responsible for bringing us Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. Knack may just be that surprise title from launch.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
LEGO games have spread to many huge series at this point. It was only a matter of time before it hit Marvel but there aren’t many series that could transfer better into a LEGO game. You can expect the same level of fun, humor, and brickbuilding that takes place in any LEGO game.
Madden NFL 25
The Madden series is turning 25, and people still love it. John Madden may not be as big a part of the franchise anymore but his legacy continues to keep fans interested. The next-gen version of Madden NFL 25 promises ten times more detail. If you get aches and pain watching the real NFL, imagine cringing at a pro game you’re controlling!
NBA 2K14 and NBA Live 14
Boy, it sure seems like a good time to like basketball and video games! Two popular basketball series will be available on the Playstation 4 at launch. Both NBA 2k14 and NBA Live 14 - aren’t you excited?
Skylanders: Swap Force
With one of the most brilliant marketing strategies ever, Skylanders makes its jump to the new consoles, as well as every other old console this fall. There’s something addictively fun about collecting Skylanders and seeing them get brought to life in a video game. It brings out the little kid in all of us, and I have no doubt that the Skylanders series will continue to be super successful.
Warframe is a free-to-play action shooter already out on PC. The game offers a genuinely fun and different experience while not being exceptionally special all on its own. The free-to-play tag, though, means it will probably see a lot of traffic at the launch of the Playstation 4. Free-to-play may be a selling point with the Playstation 4, seeing as Planetside 2 is on its way to the system as well.
When it was shown off at last year’s E3, WATCH_DOGS completely stole the show. Set in a fictional Chicago, WATCH_DOGS sets up a completely intertwined digital world. You play as elite hacker, Aiden Pearce, who is a self-made vigilante seeking to make the world a better place by eliminating the scum. Trying to seamlessly merge a multiplayer experience with a single player one, Ubisoft is making everyone gets a chance to play this incredible looking game as it launches on the next-gen consoles and the current gen ones.
